I was a classmate of Norm's at Mahwah High School.
When Norm graduated from MHS, he worked for Avon for a short while. After that, he worked at Ramsey Controls, Inc. When Ramsey Controls, Inc. closed at the end of 1986, Norm took another job. My husband, Tom, worked with Norm for 18 years at Ramsey Controls, Inc. in Mahwah. Good times with Norm included going out on his boat at both Greenwood Lake and Swinging Bridge for waterskiing; Country Western dancing at Garden State Plaza (where Joe's American Bar & Grill Restaurant is now); going to Dubinea's (Spelling?) Pub in Valley Cottage, New York whenever Pat Walsh's band was playing there; we also went to several of Mary Stella's music gigs, as well as numerous other get-togethers. My husband, Tom, also remembers teaching Norm how to drive a stick shift when he bought his 1966 (or so) Ford Galaxy 500 Convertible. In the mid-1980's, Norm's Dad had a tragic accident at work. Tony Sustack, as well as other Nursing Caretakers, came in to help take care of Norm's Dad. Norm then left the job that he had accepted after Ramsey Controls, Inc. closed, and he took over the care of his Dad for the rest of his Dad's life. Norman Valentine was a good guy...well-liked...well-loved, and always remembered.
